THE SPIRIT OF FAITH

Sue O’Donnell. 06.12.20

“ ‘Look, I shall send My messenger to clear a way before Me. And suddenly the Lord whom you seek will come from His Temple; yes, the angel of the covenant, for whom you long, is on His way’, says Yaweh.” (Malachi 3 v 1 TNJB)

Prophecy holds true for me and for you.

A Saviour will come to us in the Person of Christ Jesus.

This is God’s covenanted fulfilled promise.

An angel did appear to Mary to tell her

The Saviour of the world was to be born to her.

We learn of true marvels and mystery.

Jesus gifts us a share of His Spirit of revelation,

So we grow to know how to become holy.

The Spirit teaches us to pray and obey.

The Spirit disciplines us regularly but kindly.

The Spirit breathes new life into us,

A life of faith accepting Christ Jesus.

We are taught through personal experience

That our Brother is our Saviour,

God’s Word of life and offer of loving forgiveness.

We learn to honour Christ Jesus on the †,

Offering Himself as a sacrifice for our sinfulness.

The Spirit comes to bless us in countless ways,

He speaks to our heart and seeks our mind.

Through Him we find the love of Jesus for us

Living and dying as the message of God’s mercy.

The Spirit shows us how Jesus means life to us.

He shows us the importance of repentance,

Enlightening our deep seated need of forgiveness.

He assures us of the grace found in Jesus,

The One to release us from our bondage to selfishness.

The Spirit is the Spirit of conviction and conversion,

Who convinces us that in turning to Jesus as Saviour,

We find all the benefits of redemption.

The healing of the Lord God’s ever loving mercy,

Is offered us in the Lord Jesus who is Christ.

By means of the Spirit of faith, prayer and repair,

All the blessings of Christmas await us!

“Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and sing praises to Him, all you peoples.” (Romans 15 v 11 NIV)

“You will also thank the Father, who has made you able to share the light which is what God’s people inherit.” (Colossians 1 v 12 GWT)

Let us pray with praise to offer thanks for the light of understanding that the Holy Spirit gives us, enabling us to know Jesus as the covenant promise of our Father’s mercy, fulfilled for us at the †. Let us pray to offer

praise, for at Christmas we will be gifted a Saviour, who redeems us and helps to motivate and dedicate us as His family, as Christ Jesus sends us His Holy Spirit of faith, the Third Person of the Trinity of love and mercy. Yes, let us pray regularly throughout Advent! Amen.
